Hello~

This is Siv! In this post I would like to talk about participation in the game jam NOKIA 3310 JAM 6 and the process of developing the game The Last Winter! 

The game jam ran from February 17 to February 26, 2024.

Game jam theme: NOKIA 3310 (main), FREEZE! (optional).

The team consisted of 3 people:

 Wolfire ✦  programmer, game designer

 SerafimaLoisen ✦ pixel artist, game designer, screenwriter, sound designer

 Siv ✦ game designer, pixel artist, screenwriter, sound designer

In the beginning, we had many different associations (for example, bobsleigh, figure skating, fishing and others) with the theme FREEZE!, some of which we eventually combined and connected everything together with a plot. We were worried that we wouldn’t have time to implement many of our mechanics and ideas from a program code point of view, but our programmer did it! So in this week (in fact, even less) we managed to make a full-fledged small game!

For me personally, the experience of participating in this game jam was unusual: it was my first participation in the development of a game with 2 people, especially in which there is another artist. So I had to entrust some of my work to another person, which was difficult, but I did it!

Also, during the game, disagreements arose on various topics. For example, for a long time we couldn’t decide whether to add a walking animation alas, it wasn’t added :__( , how to move, is it possible to hit the hole in time, and more. BUT we managed to resolve this disagreement quite... peacefully??... Hahaha, yes... The main thing that the game came out!      

However, we did not manage to implement everything. There is one important detail that was not added! We want to add this and much more in our future update! We are currently actively working on it, and we plan to release it soon! (but I don’t want to tell you which one yet, you’ll find out soon hehe~~)
